Creating Your First Blog – Choosing Your Domian Name
If you're new to my blog, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed to keep up with the latest SEO and Internet news, tips, tricks, and strategies. Thanks for visiting!
So you decided you want to create a blog, that’s great! Whether you are decided to create a blog to use for personal reasons or to set it up to make money online, there are some basic steps that you must follow if you want the blog to be successful such as identifying your niche, picking a high quality domain name, picking a blog platform, and choosing a reliable host.
Even if you’re creating the blog as a social tool and you’re not really in it to make money, your goal should be to build a well structured, visually appealing, successful blog so you can get the most out of the whole experience.
Choosing Your Blogs Domain Name
I participate in a few forums related to making money online as well as making money with blogs specifically, and it’s surprising to see that very few beginners take enough time and consideration in choosing their domain. The Domain is essentially the name, or one of the names, of your business. Your readers will immediately identify your domain directly with your blog and the information that it contains.
The domain will usually be the first impression for your business or blog and first impressions are important. So choose a domain name carefully. There are many things to consider when choosing one such as the niche your blog will be in, keywords commonly associated with your niche, length of the domain, and”catchiness”.
Your Blog’s Niche…
I wanna touch on your niche for a bit. I’ve made a post about choosing a blog niche recently and this is important when choosing your domain.
First of all, I recommend choosing a niche that you are personally very interested in. Even if this niche is not the most popular or widely searched, this will benefit you for your first blog. The more you know about the niche, the more quality content you’ll be able to post, the better your blog will be.
So now you know exactly what niche your covering. At this point, it would be a great idea to list some prime keywords that are commonly associated with your niche. In other words, keywords that are used frequently to search for topics in your niche. Advertisers use this strategy to help them make quality text advertisements.
Picking The Right Domain For Your Blog…
A great tool to use for this is Google’s keyword tool which can be found at https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal and all you have to do is type in a keyword and click on “get keyword ideas” and it’ll list how many searches that keyword gets on Google a month as well other similar keywords and how many times they are searched. Great tool right?
You should have pretty good list of keywords for your niche and domain. Now it’s time to put on your thinking cap and get creative! Take some time and play around with the keywords in different orders and see if you can come up with a catchy domain name. The trick is to make it sort and catchy. Don’t get me wrong, this can be a daunting task if you’re trying to get a domain with a .com because most of the good .com’s are taken but that’s all the more reason to get really creative.
Also, for the sake of getting attention from Google, try to keep your domain as short as possible. Google really likes domains that are relatively short. It doesn’t have to be three letters long but think short and catchy.
Don’t feel bad if you spend a lot of time on this because you’ll only be helping yourself in the long run. To save a little time, you may want to quickly jot down a few domain names that you like, then go to Godaddy.com or some other registrar and type in your ideas to see if they are available. Don’t get discouraged if your first choices are taken. Keep at it and you might be surprised when you get an awesome domain name.

Like you, my blog also was created for newbie bloggers by a newbie blogger – me. I’ve discovered tons of information and plan to distill it into understandable language for new bloggers. I will be addressing how to make money online without investing a single cent – free host, free domain name, free ads . . . and most importantly, free information and tips. You can check it out at: http://www.Ublog4money.blogspot.com

Thanks for the comment. Although I feel that going the free route is a good option, especially for newbies, going the paid way can open up so many more options.
But I agree with you, most of the strategies used should be free or have very, very small investment. I plan to share plenty of them as well.

Hello
Google PageRank is one of the very main factors which decide the ranking of Google search results
Interact in forums and online communities.
Pay attention to keyword density, title descriptions, meta tags, alt tags and interior linking structure.
You must utilize the PageRank of other sites on the web.
do not pay google, google will not make you have a better ranking or make your website have a better pagerak you need goowal.com

I have just over 30 domains and must admit I have some that may be keyworded but still suck. They do well in the search engines, it’s sharing it with others verbally that makes it tough.
I have two domains that have four keywords with a hyphen between each word. An example is the domain this post is linking to. ebooks-with-reseller-rights
Those domains are from back in 2003 and since then I was able to buy ebookswithresellerrights as well but have so many links out there now that are pointing to the old site I have not taken time to transfer and redirect.
When I pick a domain name now I try not to use more than one hyphen in the name. It’s just easier in the long run.
